Seattle, Washington: dawn. An earthquake trembles with a 7.9 magnitude. Within minutes, the city’s monuments are shattered, the streets are flooded, and thousands of citizens are reported missing in the devastation. It’s the biggest natural disaster to hit the West Coast in over a century. Shortly thereafter, the aftershock hits Northern California, reaching 8.4, splitting the earth, and swallowing a train as it cruises along the landscape; it vanishes into the fissure, taking every life on board. Dr. Samantha Hill (Emmy winner Kim Delaney, NYPD Blue), an expert on hidden fault lines, and Jordan Fisher (Dave Cubitt, Ali), Executive Director of the University of Washington’s Earthquake Center, are stunned—the chance of an aftershock being greater than the quake is virtually unprecedented.

The earthquake foretells of greater and even more devastating disaster to come. Samantha fears that the earth’s fault lines are not only connecting but reaching deeper under the surface to undetected fault lines 700 kilometres below. The chain reaction could split the world, sending the entire west coast of the United States into the Pacific Ocean. Mile by mile, the destruction continues, and when the next aftershock tears through San Francisco reaching a 9.2 magnitude, Samantha’s speculation becomes a terrifying cataclysmic reality. As the panic spreads, Jordan knows there is but one solution to prevent the inevitable: fuse the fault lines. But there’s only one way to generate enough heat to do it—a nuclear explosion—and the sole person with the authority to make it happen is the President of the United States (Emmy and Golden Globe winner Beau Bridges, We Were the Mulvaneys).
